Easy Mothers Day DIY

mothers day idea
A fun, simple Mothers Day idea, great for small kids to create. Using these DIY flower frogs allows a few flowers to go a long way, and keeps little hands busy at the same time. They choose a small, colorful bouquet of supermarket flowers, maybe spend some time outside, gathering some extra greenery from the yard. I’ve been known to take my kids when they were small to the thrift store to pick out small teacups and vases to hold the flowers.

Using oven baking clay (or air dry clay, if you have time for it to dry) roll out the clay to a thickness of about 1/4″ thick. Using the opening of the cup or vase, press down on to the clay to mark the size the clay will need to be to sit over the top of the opening. The clay “disk” will need to be slightly larger than the opening. Using a straw, make several holes in the disk, careful not to make too many. Bake or air dry the clay according to package instructions.

Place the disk on top of the cup. Trim the stems down and place them in the holes, making sure to fill every hole and cover the disk. Add water, and place at the Mothers Day table. Couldn’t be easier!
