Springtime Posey Wool Appliqué Banner

As part of the School Of Wool Facebook group “A Banner Year” series, today I am releasing a new, downloadable, Spring banner pattern, Springtime Posey. This pattern walks you how to create this beautiful banner using your favorite colors of either new or upcycled wool with some fun embroidery stitches.

I have included a glossary of stitches I used in my own version, as well as clickable links to a Pinterest board full of mores stitches to try. There are also lots more detail images of the stitches that I used in mine for inspiration.

I had so much fun searching for unique embroidery threads to use in this banner while I was designing it, and fell hard for all the gorgeous variegated Perle cotton threads out there. When combined with interesting stitches, they create so much depth and interest on the surface of your work. My favorite resources for this project:
Fiber On A Whim’s Hand-Dyed Perle Cotton Size 8 Threads. I saw these in person at Quilt Festival a few months ago and picked up several shades. For this project, I used Limeade and Moss.
Sue Spargo’s Dala Pearl Cotton #5– These threads are a bit heavier than a size 8, which creates a beautiful contrast on your embroidery. You can see these threads and many others being used in Sue’s WONDERFUL hand embellishing class on Craftsy (its one of my very favorite classes).
