Calico Star Quilt
Today I bring you the Calico Star quilt. The very beginning of this was two different 1970’s cotton calicos came home with me one day from the thrift store, over a year ago. There were several useable yards of each of the prints, and even though I wasn’t sure what I would do with them, I knew I wanted them. They sat in my stash for a long time, cleaned, pressed, and neatly folded. I used little bits of them for various projects here and there, but the bulk of the yardage was waiting for the right project. One afternoon, I began playing with some bright solids and put several of them together. I like the intensity of them all together, actually better than each of them standing alone as a single color. I pulled the calicos off the shelf and realized that each of these brights were represented in the tiniest way in each of those prints. I was definitely on to something.
So where does this quilt live? One place I think it would be perfect in is a cozy cabin. The perfect bright compliment against the warm browns of all the wood tones.
