Granny Square Sampler Project- Week 9

How is everyone doing on the granny square sampler? Is everyone up to date on their squares? I know some have been crocheting on car trips and I am so jealous, I get car sick when I try. All that wasted passenger seat time!
Granny Square Sampler
This week I have a treat to share with you for our assignment today. I asked Erin if she would be willing to jump in and share a granny square for the sampler, and she graciously agreed. This week’s square is a sweet dimensional flower she chose for us.
(Find all the assignments listed on this page.)
Granny Square Sampler
Three Dimensional Granny Square Flower- Make 3 of these.
The original pattern for this granny square can be found here. Follow this pattern as written thru round 5. Erin added another round to our version, which we both agreed frames the flower very nicely, and the instructions for round 6 are:
Round 6: Ch 3, * 1 dc into each of the next three dcs done in round 5, 1 dc into the ch-1 space that follows, 1 dc into each of the next three dcs, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) into the ch-1 corner space, 1 dc into each of the next three dcs, and 1 dc into the ch-1 space that follows **; repeat from * to ** 3 more times, join with a sl st into the first dc made in this round. Fasten off and break yarn.
*This granny square only adds in one twist, crocheting into the back of some of the stitches. This creates the 3 dimensional effect of the flower.

Thank you Erin! Enjoy your crochet time this week everyone!

Granny square addiction continues! Thank you to you & Erin for all your work on this! Is providing perfect alternative to the round upon round of a jumper I’m knitting the old man. Thank you for this wonderful (free!) summer project.

I just joined in and am madly attempting to catch up! I’m a new crocheter so it took me awhile to get through weeks 1 & 2,but I did it.

I made the first one with the wrong number of petals but finished it anyway. The second one I got the first outside row wrong and ended up with the stitches across the petal joins but it looked good so I finished that one too. The third one I actually got right but I thought the petals weren’t fluffy enough for my liking so the fourth one has a treble in the centre of each inner petal instead of one of the doubles and the outer petals have three trebles replacing the three central doubles as well. It looks much more like a camellia 🙂
    So…..I’m now up to date!

Love, love, love these pretty flowers. It is great to have a different assignment to do every week, especially since i am also working on an afghan in two blues and white which is beautiful but can be a bit boring at times.

Hi Blair, Been having a lot of fun doing these and seeing my piles of squares grow. I can’t find week 10 and was curious to see this weeks’s assignment. Going on vacation late next week and want to make sure I get this week’s squares done!
    Thanks for all your effort.
