Splendorous- A New Free Quilt Pattern for You!

Splendorous Quilt Look book
I was asked by my good friend Bari J to create a quilt pattern to celebrate Wild Bloom, her newest collection for Art Gallery Fabrics. I don’t usually create quilts for full fabric collections. Sometimes, though, I get inspiration from work I truly love, like Bari’s. Her beautifully floral and happy world of Curated Maximalism makes me smile whenever I see it. So, inspired by her world of blooms and Wild Bloom, this is what I came up with.

You can sew up this throw sized quilt in a weekend! The beauty in this pattern is the mix of fabrics, the more the merrier. The smaller prints work well in the triangular “bead” areas (that’s what I kept calling them when I was designing it), while the background areas can contrast well by using fabrics that have some scattered larger prints and open spaces with no pattern at all. Its really fun to see the patterns come together and play off each other in each of the blocks.

And what’s not better with pompoms? Not much, I say! As I was making the “beads” and placing them on the quilt wall, I thought it would be fun to add a pompom where each bead joined the next. I used Betz White’s Llamalooma to make the pompoms out of a coordinating peach yarn, which I added to the finished quilt (sewn through all the layers).
