#myquiltcouldlivehere- Candy Mountains

During the Summer, I pulled out some of the brightest fabrics in my stash and began to remake the quilt on the cover of my book. In an attempt to move past the creative rut I was in.

 

 

Its a tried and true delectable mountains pattern, one I’ve always loved. I was inspired to play with the versatility of this pattern, to see how I could make it feel new.

 

 

In this new, super happy color palette version, I lined the blocks up a little bit differently, and it created a different look. New, on-point block shapes are being created in areas that did not have those pointed edges before. The seams don’t always line up and that creates a jagged effect in the new version. If you repeat something like that enough times, it looks intentional. Made with apparel cotton sateens, swiss dots, quilting cotton solids, and hand dyed cotton feedsack cloth with a little bit of Liberty of London through in. Because, why not?

 

 

There’s something about the combination of shapes and colors in this new version. The combination makes it feel fresh in a way that I can’t quite explain. I see it living in a place where your favorite colors are always on display. We use the good china. Tea is always from our favorite tea cup. The space that feels optimistic, inspiring, and friendly.
