Interwoven Printed Quilt Pattern

A modern take on the traditional concept of “Sunshine and Shadow” in quilt making. Divide an assortment of fabrics into two value groups and create the effect.

This design was inspired by the patterning of an ironwork railing. I loved the play of shadows and shapes in the design. Simple, yet interesting way to play with the idea of “sunshine and shadow” in a quilt. Use a fat quarter bundle of your favorite fabrics, as I did in the cover quilt (a complete fat quarter bundle of Denyse Schmidt’s “Washington Depot” fabric), or keep it scrappy and use up favorite fabrics that are just sitting in your stash. Divide your chosen fabrics into dark and light color values, and use these values to create the patterning.

My Ruby Ruler™ is a great tool for helping you see even the most value differences between your fabrics. Also use it to trim up pieced units.

Includes cutting and piecing instructions for Crib, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King sizes. Also includes plenty of illustrations and a printable coloring page to help you plan out your design.
