Scrappy Square On Point Quilt Finished

I finished the scrappy Square On Point quilt I started a few weeks ago. Just in time for Mothers Day. I wish I had a good picture of the entire quilt, but the best picture I have is of the top, above. I discussed in another post how this quilt began with a need to clean up and organize my fabric stash. What a great way to start a quilt, I can’t think of anything more inspiring than just using what you have and seeing where it takes you. My heart will always have a soft spot for scrappy quilts, and this one made use of the pink, yellow, orange and red sections of my stash (I group my fabric stash by color range). Once I’d cut a square from each of the fabrics in those stacks, I had more than enough to create a throw sized quilt for my mom. I keep thinking I should make another one from the rest of my stash, which would be all the cooler colors. I wanted the colors to gradually deepen as the eye travelled down and around the quilt and I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.
This pattern is one of the many very clever and innovative patterns taught in Anita Grossman Solomon’s Craftsy class, Quick Techniques For Classic Blocks. If you are looking for a fun way to change up your quilting, try something new, or create a quilt fast (this one came together in light speed), I can’t recommend this class enough (my points are matching like magic!). This is just one of the techniques she teaches, and all of these blocks are cut with no measuring, from a easy as pie to follow paper template.
