DIY Washi Tape Garland

DIY Washi Tape Garland

This may be the one and only Christmas holiday I’d like to do in neon, so I’m going to just go for it wherever I can. I pulled out my stash of washi tape and created a quick garland for my studio. I think I’ll get the kids to make some more while watching the Macy’s parade on Thanksgiving Day. It easy and bright, just the kind of project I like.

Washi Tape Garland

Supplies:

  • Assorted colors of washi tape
  • 2 sheets of white card stock
  • Scissors
  • 3′ length of nylon cord (mine is a neon pink from the hardware store) or yarn
  • Hole punch
  • Glue

To Make:

1. Using your washi tape and 2 sheets of cardstock, apply strips of tape to the cardstock until one side is filled.

2. From a scrap piece of card stock or paper, draw and cut out a simple tree shape is 2 sizes. Size them so as to get as many trees as possible from the 2 sheets.
3. Turn the 2 sheets over and trace as many trees as you can get on each one. Cut them out, but don’t throw out the scraps just yet.

4. Punch 1 hole in the top of each one.

5. String the trees onto the nylon cord one at a time, tying each into place, keeping them spaced apart as you wish, no need to be exact.
6. Use the holes punch (and punch extra holes from the scraps of paper)
There you have it!
I am going to excuse myself from blogging this week, so I can power through some work and spend some time with the family. I hope everyone who is celebrating Thanksgiving has a fantastic one. I have so much to be thankful for this year, not the least of which is you. Thank you for reading wise craft, for being enthusiastic for what I create here. You mean a lot to me!
