Granny Square Sampler Afghan, Week 17, Showing You Off!

Granny Square
(All the granny square assignments can be found on this page.)
Hello fellow samplers! I am taking some unauthorized liberties today. I wanted to share some photos of some of the samplers that everyone is doing. One of the best parts of this granny square sampler project is, although we all crocheted basically the same squares, each afghan is so unique to its designer. So much color and pattern out there! There were times I was constructing this afghan that I started to wonder if it would end up one hot mess (you may have wondered that too!), but that couldn’t be further than what we’re ending up with. Just beautiful. Take a look at some of the in-progress afghan shots from our Flickr groupREAD MORE

How To Finger Crochet

I was invited by Tea Collection’s Priscilla to do a guest post for Studio T and I shared an easy project for kid’s busy hands, how to finger crochet. Similar to finger knitting but (I think) a bit easier, all you need is a ball of yarn and your fingers.

A DIY Picture Light for Emma's Room

DIY nightlight

One of the projects we had on our list for Emma’s room was make some sort of pretty picture light/night light sort of thing, one that could look pretty during the day too. I had seen this image on pinterest (pinned to the inspiration board for Emma’s room) and it inspired the idea we eventually came up with. Emma's Bedroom Redo on Design Mom Today!

DIY bird light

It’s done! (Actually its been done for a few weeks now.) The bedroom redo collaboration between teenager and teenager’s mom was, in the teenager’s opinion, a complete success, and over at Design Mom. The birdcage around the ceiling light in the photo above was my favorite of all the projects Emma and I did to make this room come together. And there were plenty. I’ll be talking a little more about those coming up, but today you can hop over and see the finished room on Design Mom. Gabrielle did the sweetest q & a with me about the whole process of changing this room over. And when I tell you I cried answering those questions, I honestly did. Its exciting and bittersweet to watch my kids grow up.
Go take a look at the before and after over at Gabby’s blog.
Happy Tuesday!

Granny Square Sampler Project- Week 15, Blocking Squares

I am getting excited now that we’re nearing the point where we are starting to join our squares together. We’ve worked all summer towards this right?
I jumped the gun last week when I said let’s start joining our squares. Because it we are good crocheters (and we are) we must block them first.READ MORE
