Blair merges her experience and background in apparel design together with her modern quiltmaking practice to teach quilters how to see their fabrics in a whole new way. Her workshops and lectures focus on using meaningful, “already in your stash” fabrics to create quilts and stitched pieces with story, depth, and personality.

Current offerings include group workshops and lectures on modern quiltmaking, color and value in scrappy patchwork and how she uses her Ruby Ruler®, as well as the vintage-inspired hand stitching technique of Chicken Scratch embroidery. Students will learn new ways to look at their stash, how to confidently cut into treasured fabrics and beloved scraps, prompts to help them be more experimental and personal with their quilt designs, and create a process that allows for creative discovery rather than a rigid, pre-determined formula.

If you have a specific workshop, retreat, guild event, or lecture topic in mind, please reach out to us to start the conversation.

Please note- All workshops and lectures can be scheduled with your group or guild either in person or virtually.

“I took Modern Scrap Quilts workshop through my quilt guild in the bay area.  Loved learning to work with value, not color.  Love the quilt that I created from that workshop.  I always read your newsletter and look at your quilts with joy.  Thank you for guiding me to new places in my quilt making.”
