Project Description

Blair’s husband Peter has been a cyclist all of his adult life. Often racing competitively in mountain, cyclocross, and road racing. While Blair was writing Wise Craft Quilts, every Thursday evening during the summer found the family at the local velodrome to watch Peter race on the track. When a rider is not on the track, which is a large oval, they are usually in the infield, or the center of the oval, often sitting on damp grass. She had the idea to take all the cycling numbers Peter had saved (which all competitive racers usually save) and create a quilt with them. The numbers are often made of Tyvek, which is a perfect barrier to the damp grass. She added ties so it could be easily rolled up and stored in the car.

Find instructions to make the Racer quilt in Blair’s book, Wise Craft Quilts. Signed copies available in the shop in limited quantities.
