Blair is a big fan of Richard Saja’s embroidery work on toile printed fabrics. Blair loves toile, toile de chine, and similar fabrics (she once had an entire sofa reupholstered in a blue and white toile fabric). While writing her book Wise Craft Quilts, she really wanted to explore the idea of documenting family sayings, funny expressions, etc as embroidered captions on toile fabrics, then patchworking them together. Her partner in crime and co-embroiderer to help make this happen was her sis-in-law Jenny Stocker. To date it is still one of Blair’s all time favorite quilts.
