Appliquéd Bird Mini Quilt
You know, I could really get used to hand appliqué. This is my very first time ever trying to do it and it is easier than I expected! Plus it is the kind of work that I need to slow down and do (slow stitching is always a good thing in my book).
Honestly I didn’t think it was for me, but I think I stand corrected, it’s much less intimidating than I original thought.
This is a little bird quilt inspired by a project in Sarah Fielke’s book Quilting From Little Things. Sarah also teaches a Craftsy class that shows her hand appliqué technique in action (its one of my favorite Craftsy classes!).
Lately I’m feeling the urge to make a new quilt for our bed, which might have some hand applique, so this little bird is good practice. I think I’m ready to try another one soon.
There is a collection of these mini-quilts amassing in my studio, may need to find some wall space.
