Hold Tight Sew Along Week 2, Cutting and Piecing

Hold Tight W2

Sharon and I are starting Week 2 of our Hold Tight Quilt Petit Sewalong this week. Have you been following along so far? Last week was all about choosing your colors and fabrics. I was in the Wise Craft Quilts FB Group live to choose my palette for my own quilt. (If you are a member of the group, you can watch the replay any time, just go to “videos” and Look for Hold Tight Quilt Week 1.

This week, we are cutting and sewing. (Read Sharon’s blog post here.) There are several curves in this quilt, but they are the perfect ones to start with if you’ve never pieced a curve before. I will be live in the Wise Craft Quilts FB group on Wednesday at 11:00 PDT(today!) to show you my own method of cutting and piecing these units. I’ll also answer any questions you all have about progress so far on your quilt, and going forward.

There are templates in Sharon’s pattern which are super easy to use, I’ll be showing how I use them. I’ll also be demonstrating my preferred way of cutting the curves for this quilt, Sharon McConnell’s Classic Curves Ruler. I love this ruler. It makes cutting the curves needed for this or any pattern pretty much foolproof. It cuts 10 different sizes.

I really love that this Sew Along is only 3 weeks. Its the perfect amount of time to both hold my interest (Summer is a bit busy and scattered here), and get me into sewing again! Here’s what I have so far-
