The Starflake Quilt began as a challenge Blair made to herself to sew with all the scraps she’d been saving for way too long. It began with the “green” bin. Many blocks later, she can’t remember if she actually ran out of green scraps to use, or if she just got tired of the color green, but at some point, pink scraps were brought out to use.

Starflake makes a beautifully impactful quilt design. Choose a favorite color or two, or make each large starflake block its own color of the rainbow. Gather all your prints, and watch the magic happen as you organize your fabrics into light, medium, and dark color value groups. This technique creates a sparkling, unified design that’s uniquely personal and visually striking.
