I spent a week in Taos in the Summer of 2022 working on a personal project. I wanted to explore the idea of the scraps a quilt maker makes, keeps, and uses.
How small is too small?
I brought very limited materials with me for the retreat, so that I could really focus on that question. Color seemed to be the biggest motivation for each of these pieces. They were all such a joy to make.
No. 7 is improv Roman steps variation. Created from cuttings leftover from larger blocks and quilts I’d worked on earlier in the year. This palette of warm mustards, violets, and corals has really inspired me this year.
