Unfinished Projects? Finish, Repurpose, or Let Go

I love the way one YouTube video topic can lead to other topics for new videos. That happened recently after I shared a video about how when my studio is messy it can really affect my creativity. A commenter asked what I do with all those UFOs (UnFinished Objects)? As a creator my whole job is to create quilt patterns/designs, and embroidery pattern/designs that are inspiring for my followers and gives them the urge to learn and make. And there are most definitely pieces that get started and abandoned when they don’t seem to fall into the “oooh I want to make that” category. As well, I take workshops, learn from creators I admire, and that can create UFOs as well. So it’s become very important to my studio space (and frankly, my own sanity) to figure out a strategy of some kind that doesn’t leave piles of UFOs lying around my studio, moved out of the way on a daily basis.
What about you? I’d love to hear your thoughts about abandoned and unfinished projects- do you keep them? Repurpose them? Pass them along? There are some great strategies that commenters shared on the video, maybe you’ll get some new ideas on how to address these! I know I did. And it also urged me to pull out a set of quilt blocks that are about 7 years old and commit to finishing them. More on that soon!
