New video- An interview with modern quilter Timna Tarr
Broody Bunch- A quilt by Timna Tarr
Around the holidays, I recorded a chat with Timna Tarr. We discussed her new book, Stitched Photo Mosaic Quilting and what she has been doing in the studio. A new-ish home studio, only about 6 months old at the time of our talk.
Her book, Stitched Photo Mosaic Quilting, is a step by step process of how Timna creates her animal and human portraits. It requires a lot of careful, thoughtful use of fabric and fabric color. Through a combinations of chosen prints and solids, Timna creates portraits with beautiful depth and detail, and she’s very open and clear about her process. I took one of her online classes during lockdown in 2020 that teaches her technique and I really want to make a portrait of Toby our cat when I have a minute to spare. Her technique is very approachable and improvisational. I can’t wait to try it.
Enjoy our chat, and be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for all kinds of content coming this year. I’m kind of geeking out on the ideas I have planned!
