New Creativebug class coming soon!
It’s been a full year (and a completely different hair color!) since I was in San Francisco filming for Creativebug. I filmed 3 classes that week, stayed in the coolest Airbnb, made friends with the DoorDash locals, and to say it was intense was a complete understatement! But so worth it! Their classes and the way they put the information together is really top notch, and I’m so honored to have classes with them.
The very first class of mine that went live on their site is the Chicken Scratch Embroidery Daily Practice Class. A daily practice class is a month-long exploratory class of daily prompts that take you from the easy beginning stages to more advanced as the month progresses. That class took the majority of the week to film while I was in San Francisco and involved 3 straight days of full day filming. Fun fact- They were having flash flooding and torrential rains that week, and we kept having to stop and recalibrate the video equipment for the sound and daylight as the storms came and went.
That class is still just as fresh today as it was when it debuted on their site. Chicken Scratch Embroidery is a beautifully meditative type of hand stitching that has been around for a very long time- maybe you have a grandmother or great aunt who either stitched it or has some gingham stitched with it. It’s so perfect for any time of the year, but I especially love it in these darker, early-to-turn-in winter months, because I can do it while watching tv and doesn’t require surgical amounts of lighting.
The second class I filmed with them debuted just a few months ago, and it’s all about sewing up a scrappy holiday stocking. In Sew A Stash-Busting Stocking, I show you how to create teensy half square triangles. They are almost jewel-like they are so tiny! Then we sew up a lined stocking that are absolute treasures to pull out and use every holiday season (I know, we do just that!). What’s even more fun is that you can take the teeny half square triangle idea and use them to make anything- what about a pillow?
And I’m very excited to let you know that my next class will go live next month, for National Quilting Month! Stay tuned for more details, but for now I will tell that its quilty, scrappy, color value based, and 🌈!
I am working on a devoted area on my site for all of my Creativebug classes, as well as other platforms I teach on. In the meantime, find all my Creativebug classes at this link.
Thank you all so much for being a part of this amazing journey with me!

February 6, 2024 at 10:55 pmYour chicken scratch class was so awesome! I loved doing the designs, and now I’m adding borders to each design square. I’m planning on making a quilt out of the completed squares. Thank you for helping me learn such an enjoyable new handwork skill.
