Newest blocks for the Wise Craft Snowflake Sampler Block of the Month
The 3rd block for the 2021 Block of the Month is out this month, and in the process of being stitched up by the members. I want to share how incredibly pretty this block is, and all the versions posted by members this month.
I’m calling this one Lacy Flowers because the white stitches feel lacy to me and I just love how delicate they are.
Several students are using the Aurifil Thread kit (same as the one I used to stitch the sample quilt) that comes with 11 variegated colors of floss. From that kit, I used a beautiful rosy pink variegated for this month’s block-
Its is so fun to watch the colors change as you stitch and weave these patterns.
Many members are choosing their own color combinations, and I love seeing these! As I tell them, this is YOUR quilt and should be made the way YOU want to make it! My goal with this program is to introduce a lovely, meditative, and fun method of adorning gingham fabric with stitches. All based on variations of Chicken Scratch Embroidery (not sure what that is? read more info on the class page). Some of the patterns/blocks are based on vintage chicken scratch. But there are also designs based on my own experimentation. (I’ve been playing with this method for a few years now.) With the introduction of each new block, I wanted to make sure that the pattern is approachable and enjoyable. AND that we are learning something new!
