I recently traveled to some very warm areas recently to visit family (North Carolina I’m looking at you!). That is likely the very reason why I started thinking about making a snowball block quilt. This is one of those blocks that’s super easy to make, and endlessly customizable. The corner block colors can be all the same, or all different. Its fun to see how the quilt changes. Its also a great project to keep set up by the sewing machine, at the ready for any time I have an extra half an hour (like while I’m waiting for computer problems to be resolved…).READ MORE
We will soon be starting our 4th stitch along in the Wise Craft Quilts Facebook Group (now archived, but look for the video from this stitch along on the Wise Craft Youtube channel). We’ve had great fun stitching these projects together (you can see some of the projects in the #wisecraftstitchalong hashtag on Instagram. Our stitch alongs are casual, and focus on or expand on techniques from my book Wise Craft Quilts. Its been a great way to give myself a little permission to just stitch something new, revisit the projects from that book, and sew up new versions.

One of my favorite things to do with vintage fabrics is incorporate them in my quilt designs, but they often need a little help to make them clean, strong, and ready to be used in a quilt design.
Quilt binding is like putting your beautiful quilt in a frame. Sometimes it matches, sometimes it contrasts, but it should always be done well. Its what the user will often handle and see, the edges.
